The Hermes Agent plugins marketplace is the official Plugin Catalog where you browse hundreds of free community plugins and install them into Hermes Desktop with one click.

It's run by Nous Research, the team behind Hermes Agent, and every plugin on it is free to install.

The question I get most is simple: where is it, how do I install a plugin without breaking my setup, and which plugins are actually worth it?

This is the operator walkthrough, so I'll take you from finding the catalog to installing your first plugin, then through every plugin I showed in my video.

What The Hermes Agent Plugins Marketplace Actually Is

Hermes Agent is the free, open-source AI agent from Nous Research, and Hermes Desktop is its native app for Mac, Windows and Linux.

Plugins are add-ons that give Hermes new powers, such as a news ticker, a voice mode, a new chat platform or a new web search tool.

Until recently, adding a plugin meant cloning a GitHub repo, editing config files in the terminal and hoping it loaded.

Now there's a proper Plugin Catalog, and that's what people mean when they say the Hermes Agent plugins marketplace.

In my video I called it 500 free plugins, and that's roughly right.

When I ran hermes plugins browse on 7 October 2026, the curated catalog listed 469 entries, with 9 official plugins and 460 community plugins.

The catalog launched in mid-September with around 100 plugins, so it has grown fast.

Every plugin is free to install, although a few connect to services that need their own API key.

Where To Find The Hermes Plugin Catalog

The web version of the catalog lives on the official Hermes Agent docs site at hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/docs/plugins.

You can filter it by source, which means official or community, and by category.

The categories cover desktop add-ons, tools, memory, models, automation, web and browser, platforms, voice and general plugins.

The same catalog is available from the terminal, which is handy if you live in the command line.

Command What it does
hermes plugins search <word> It searches the curated catalog for a name or keyword.
hermes plugins browse It lists every curated catalog entry with its category and tier.
hermes plugins info <name> It shows the repo, pinned commit, maintainer and what the plugin adds.
hermes plugins install <name> It installs the plugin and runs a security scan first.
hermes plugins list It lists the plugins you already have installed.
hermes plugins enable / disable It switches a plugin on or off without removing it.
hermes plugins update / check-updates It pulls new versions or checks for them without changing anything.
hermes plugins remove <name> It uninstalls a plugin you no longer want.

I checked every one of those commands with hermes plugins --help on my own install, so they're the real names, not guesses.

How To Read A Plugin Listing Before You Install

Every plugin page in the Hermes Agent plugins marketplace follows the same layout, and learning to read it saves you a lot of pain.

  • The star count shows how many people have starred the plugin, and it's your fastest quality signal.
  • The category tells you where the plugin lives, such as Desktop, Voice or Platforms.
  • The maintainer name tells you who built it, and most plugins are community-made rather than official.
  • The added and updated dates tell you whether anyone is still looking after it.
  • The version number appears when the author has tagged a release.
  • The Repository link takes you straight to the GitHub code.
  • The "Reviewed source" link shows the exact commit the catalog pinned.
  • The README section shows you what the plugin does and what it needs.

Here's a real example from when I checked.

Hermes Tailscale showed 52 stars, version 0.0.6, a last update on 4 October 2026 and its GitHub repo right there on the page.

That's a plugin I'd feel comfortable trying, because it's recent, rated and readable.

How To Install A Hermes Plugin In One Click

This is the part that changed everything for me.

Here's the exact flow I used in the video.

  1. Open the plugin's page in the catalog and read the README first.
  2. Click the "Open in Hermes Desktop" button on the page.
  3. Let Hermes Desktop open, and you'll see an install dialog.
  4. Choose where the plugin appears, such as in the desktop interface as a plugin.
  5. Check the GitHub repository the dialog shows you, so you know exactly what you're installing.
  6. Choose which Hermes profile the plugin should be available in.
  7. Click Install and wait for it to finish.

That's one click from the catalog, plus a couple of choices in the dialog.

The profile choice matters more than people think.

I keep one profile per model, so I can add a plugin to my test profile first and only move it to my main profile once I trust it.

If you've never set up Hermes Desktop before, start with my walkthrough on how to set up Hermes Agent in one click, then come back here.

The Old Way Vs The New Way Of Installing Hermes Plugins

The old way was painful, and I'm not exaggerating.

You'd find a plugin in a random thread, open the terminal, clone the repo, click around config files and restart Hermes.

I once spent about three hours on GitHub trying to get a skill working that didn't even work in the end.

The new way is one click with ratings on the page, so you can see what other people trust before you spend any time on it.

Old way New way
Finding plugins You searched GitHub and threads with no ratings. You browse one catalog with stars and categories.
Installing You cloned repos and edited config in the terminal. You click "Open in Hermes Desktop" and press Install.
Choosing a profile You edited the right profile's files by hand. You pick the profile in the install dialog.
Checking quality You guessed. You see stars, dates and the README first.

The terminal route still exists, and every catalog page shows the install command if you prefer it.

The Safety Check You Must Do Before Installing Any Plugin

This is the one thing I told everyone to check in the video.

Most plugins in the Hermes Agent plugins marketplace are built by the community, not by Nous Research.

That means a plugin could do things you don't want, so read the GitHub repository and the README before you install anything.

Here's my quick checklist.

  • Read what the plugin says it does, and make sure that's the job you want done.
  • Check what it needs, such as API keys or environment variables.
  • Check where your data goes, especially for messaging and voice plugins.
  • Check the updated date, because an abandoned plugin can break after a Hermes update.
  • Check the star count against similar plugins in the same category.

Hermes also has a safety net built in.

hermes plugins install runs a security scan, and plugins marked dangerous can't be installed at all.

The Newswire README explains that a "caution" result asks you to confirm in the terminal, while the Desktop Plugins page refuses a caution result outright and shows you the findings.

So if a one-click install gets refused, read the findings, then decide in the terminal whether you trust it.

Hermes Agent Plugins Marketplace Walkthrough: Every Plugin I Showed

Here's every plugin from the video, with what it does and how to set it up.

Hermes Newswire

Hermes Newswire is a news ticker for Hermes Desktop.

It adds a scrolling strip at the bottom of a new chat that shows headlines from the sources you choose.

To set it up, open its settings and add topics or sources, and I searched "Hermes agent" release notes as my first source.

You can add several sources, delete the ones you don't want and resize the ticker.

The settings let you switch it on or off, make it scroll fast or slow and pause it.

The catalog says it uses zero API keys and zero model tokens, so it costs you nothing to run.

Hermes Tailscale

Hermes Tailscale lets you connect to and control Hermes across multiple devices, such as your phone and your laptop.

Its catalog page shows the README, what it does, what it's powered by and where it works.

It talks to the Tailscale app you already have installed, and it doesn't need an admin API token.

You can install it manually from the README too, but the one-click route is much faster.

Platform plugins

Platform plugins let you talk to Hermes from somewhere new.

The WhatsApp agent platform plugin connects Hermes to Meta's WhatsApp Agent Platform API.

Its own page says it isn't affiliated with Meta or Nous Research and that those agent chats aren't end-to-end encrypted, which is exactly why you read the README.

The Minecraft gateway spawns a bot that joins a Minecraft server and relays chat between players and Hermes.

Browser and web search plugins

The Web and Browser category covers browser automation and web search.

Brave Search adds one tool called brave_web_search, and it asks for your Brave Search API key during install.

Ollama Cloud web search adds search plus page extraction, and it reuses your Ollama API key.

There are browser add-ons too, such as one that switches Hermes's browser tools to a named Chrome profile.

Voice plugins

The voice plugins turn Hermes into something that feels like Jarvis.

You'll see Hermes Speech, Hermes Talk, Hermes Live Voice and others in the Voice category.

Install only one voice plugin, because they all want to own the same job.

My rule is to pick the one with the most stars, and Hermes Speech had 196 stars when I checked.

Job search

The job search plugin is a hyper-personalised job finder.

You describe what matters to you in plain English, and it filters postings on things like role scope and autonomy rather than just keywords.

It runs locally and writes digests on a schedule you control.

Hermes Office

Hermes Office gives your agents a visual office, and I called it Hermes Office 2 in the video.

You pick a bot by its nameplate, type a task and watch it go to that bot's desk.

It's a one-click install, and it's a fun way to see what your Bot Mode agents are doing.

Don't Install Everything In The Hermes Agent Plugins Marketplace

This is the mistake I see coming a mile off.

When you see 469 free plugins, the temptation is to install 40 of them on day one.

I want you to resist that, because it causes more problems than it solves.

Every plugin adds something Hermes has to load, and some add tools your model has to decide whether to use.

Pick the two or three plugins that solve a real problem you have this week.

Install them into a test profile, use them for a few days and only then move them to your main profile.

If you use Hermes as an MCP server for other tools, my guide to the Hermes MCP server and Codex setup shows how plugins and MCP fit together.

My Starter Stack From The Hermes Agent Plugins Marketplace

If you want a sensible first install, here's what I'd do.

Goal Plugin Why it's a good first pick
Stay on top of AI news Hermes Newswire It uses no model tokens and no API keys.
Use Hermes from your phone Hermes Tailscale It connects your devices without a cloud round trip.
Talk to Hermes One voice plugin One well-rated voice plugin is all you need.
See your agents working Hermes Office It makes Bot Mode agents visible in one room.

That's four plugins, and it covers news, mobility, voice and visibility.
