  • 04 3,400+ AI operators inside

The best AI agent course for beginners is the AI Profit Boardroom, because its beginner-to-expert roadmap, four coaching calls a week and 3,400+ members give a complete beginner somewhere to start and somebody to ask.

I need to be honest that this is my own list and the AI Profit Boardroom is my own community, so please weigh my number one with that in mind.

If you want to start without paying anything, my free AI Money Lab is the place to begin.

Below those two, I ranked six courses from other providers by one thing only, which is how gentle the first week is for somebody who has never written code.

Every fact about those six comes from the provider's own page on 13 October 2026, and I have not completed them myself.

The Best AI Agent Course For Beginners: The Ranked List

This table is ordered from the gentlest first week to the steepest.

Rank Course Provider Free or paid as shown Coding needed in week one
1 AI Profit Boardroom Julian Goldie (mine) Paid No
2 AI Money Lab Julian Goldie (mine) Free No
3 Zapier Academy Zapier Free None listed
4 Anthropic Academy: Claude 101 Anthropic Free None listed
5 n8n Academy: n8n Quickstart n8n Free to register No, as stated
6 Create agents with Microsoft Copilot Studio Microsoft Learn Labelled Beginner None listed
7 AI Agents for Beginners Microsoft Free on GitHub Yes, Python
8 AI Agents Course Hugging Face Free Yes, basic Python

The top six do not list coding as a requirement for their first lessons.

The bottom two are excellent free courses, but they expect Python, so I would save them for month two.

What A Beginner Really Needs From An AI Agent Course

Most beginners pick a course by the logo on it, and that is the wrong test.

I look for four things, and I ranked the list on them.

  1. The course must not require coding in the first week.
  2. The lessons must be short enough to finish in one sitting.
  3. You should have a first working agent, or a first working workflow, on day one.
  4. There must be a place to ask questions when you get stuck.

The fourth one matters most, because every beginner gets stuck in week one.

A course with no place to ask questions leaves you alone at exactly the wrong moment.

AI Agent Jargon In Plain Words

You only need five words to follow any beginner course.

Word What it means in plain words Everyday example
Model The model is the brain that reads and writes. Claude, GPT and Kimi are models.
Agent An agent is a model that is given a goal and takes the steps itself. You say "tidy my inbox", and it works through the emails.
Tool A tool is something the agent is allowed to use. A browser, a calendar and a folder of files are tools.
Skill A skill is a saved set of written instructions for one job. "How I write a weekly report" can be saved as a skill.
Memory Memory is the notes an agent keeps so it remembers you next time. It remembers your business name and your tone of voice.

A chatbot answers a question and stops.

An agent keeps going until the job is done, using its tools, skills and memory along the way.

That is the whole idea, and everything else in a course is detail.

The 8 Picks, With Prerequisites And First Project

1. AI Profit Boardroom

The AI Profit Boardroom is my own paid community, and it is the course I point beginners to in my videos.

It has a beginner-to-expert roadmap, so you always know which lesson comes next.

It also has four coaching calls a week, 3,400+ members and my installable Agent OS.

FatRank named it the #1 AI community after testing 27 communities.

  • Prerequisites: You need a computer and the willingness to follow steps in order.
  • First project: I would start with one agent doing one small job from the start of the roadmap.
  • Time to first working agent: I do not promise a time, because it depends on the hours you put in.
  • Where you ask questions: You can ask in the community or on a coaching call.

2. AI Money Lab

AI Money Lab is my free community and free AI course.

It is the free start I recommend before you pay for anything, including my own paid community.

  • Prerequisites: You only need a free Skool account.
  • First project: I would pick one of the free agents inside and run it on a real task.
  • Time to first working agent: I do not state one.
  • Where you ask questions: You can post in the community feed.

3. Zapier Academy

Zapier Academy is Zapier's free training hub, and its page says every course and learning path is free.

The page says most courses run 10 to 55 minutes, and a full learning path takes roughly one to two hours.

It tells new users to start with Jumpstart in the AI Builder Path, which goes from your first Zap to agentic AI workflows.

  • Prerequisites: You need a Zapier account, and the page says a free plan works.
  • First project: Your first project is your first Zap, which is a simple automated workflow.
  • Time to first result: The page says you can go "from zero to Zap in under 20 minutes".
  • Where you ask questions: The page links to a community and to live sessions.

A Zap is a workflow and not a full agent, so treat that 20 minutes as your first win and not the finish line.

4. Anthropic Academy: Claude 101

Anthropic Academy is Anthropic's course site, and Claude 101 is marked free to register.

Claude 101 covers your first conversation with Claude, projects, skills and connecting your tools.

Its sister course, Introduction to Claude Cowork, has a lesson called "Hand Claude Cowork your first task".

  • Prerequisites: The page lists no coding requirement, and you register through Skilljar.
  • First project: Your first project is handing Claude one real task on your own files.
  • Time to first result: The Cowork page says the course is built so you are productive in your first week.
  • Where you ask questions: The course pages I read do not state one.

5. n8n Academy: n8n Quickstart

The n8n Academy lists a course called n8n Quickstart, and the page says no coding experience is required.

The page adds that some familiarity with APIs and JSON is helpful, so it is a small step up from Zapier.

The course ends with building an AI agent that works as a customer service chatbot.

  • Prerequisites: You need an n8n instance and an API key from a chat model provider for the agent section.
  • First project: Your first project is a simple workflow, followed by the chatbot agent.
  • Time to first working agent: The page does not state one.
  • Where you ask questions: The course page does not state one.

The page says n8n Cloud has a free trial and that you can self-host n8n for free.

6. Create Agents With Microsoft Copilot Studio

This Microsoft Learn learning path is labelled Beginner and has five modules.

The first two modules are called "Plan your first agent" and "Create your first agent in Microsoft Copilot Studio".

  • Prerequisites: The page says you need an environment with a licensed user to complete the exercises.
  • First project: Your first project is planning and creating a basic agent.
  • Time to first working agent: The page does not state one.
  • Where you ask questions: The page mentions a free, instructor-led Copilot Studio in a Day workshop.

This one suits people whose company already uses Microsoft tools.

7. Microsoft: AI Agents For Beginners

AI Agents for Beginners is a free course that Microsoft publishes on GitHub.

Each lesson has a written lesson, a short video and Python code samples.

The lesson table listed 18 lessons when I checked, starting with "Intro to AI Agents and Agent Use Cases".

  • Prerequisites: The setup guide asks for Python 3.12 or newer and an Azure account.
  • First project: Your first project is running the code sample from the first lesson.
  • Time to first working agent: The page does not state one.
  • Where you ask questions: The course has a dedicated Discord channel.

The word "beginners" here means beginners to agents, and not beginners to code.

8. Hugging Face: AI Agents Course

The Hugging Face AI Agents Course is free, and its page says it takes you "from beginner to expert".

It lists basic knowledge of Python and basic knowledge of LLMs as the prerequisites.

  • Prerequisites: You need basic Python, a computer and a Hugging Face account.
  • First project: Unit 1 shows a simple use case that uses Python functions as tools.
  • Time per unit: The page says each chapter is designed for one week at roughly three to four hours.
  • Where you ask questions: The course runs study groups in its Discord server.

It also offers a certificate of completion, which is a nice goal once you are comfortable.

Your First 7 Days: A Step-By-Step Starter Plan

This is the plan I would follow if I were starting again with no coding skills.

It uses the same approach I teach, which is one agent doing one job before anything else.

Day What you do How long I would allow
1 Learn the five words and join one free community. 30 minutes
2 Choose one small, boring job for your first agent. 20 minutes
3 Build your first no-code workflow or hand an agent its first task. 1 hour
4 Give the agent one tool. 1 hour
5 Save your instructions as a skill. 45 minutes
6 Add memory and run the same job again. 45 minutes
7 Share the result, ask one question and choose your next course. 30 minutes

The times are my own suggestions and not a promise from any provider.

Day 1: Learn The Words And Join One Community

Read the jargon table above until the five words feel normal.

Then join the free AI Money Lab so that you have somewhere to ask questions.

Do not install anything on day one.

Day 2: Choose One Small Job

Write the job down in a single sentence.

A good first job is "summarise the new files in this folder every morning".

A bad first job is "run my whole business".

The smaller the job, the faster you will see it work.

Day 3: Build The First Thing

Pick one of the no-code options from the list and follow its first lesson only.

Zapier Academy and Claude 101 are the two gentlest options from other providers.

Stop as soon as something runs, because that first run is the win.

Day 4: Give It One Tool

Connect a single tool, such as a folder, a calendar or a spreadsheet.

Run the same job again and watch what the agent does with the tool.

Add only one tool, because two new things at once make problems hard to find.

Day 5: Save A Skill

Write down exactly how you want the job done, step by step.

Save those steps so the agent can reuse them, which is what a skill is.

Now you never have to explain that job again.

Day 6: Add Memory

Give the agent the facts it should always know, such as your name, your business and your tone.

Run the job one more time and compare the result with day three.

The difference you see is the reason memory matters.

Day 7: Share, Ask And Decide

Post what you built in a community and ask one specific question.

Then decide whether you want a full roadmap, a no-code tool or a Python course next.

My longer walkthrough is in how to learn AI agents from scratch.

How I Start Beginners On AI Agents

I use four rules when I teach this in my own videos.

  • You should start with one agent doing one job.
  • You should use free models first and pay only when a free one holds you back.
  • You should keep one profile per model, so each model has its own settings and you can compare them fairly.
  • You should build towards an Agent OS, which is one dashboard that runs your agents under one shared memory.

My free video course on that last step is called "How to Build Agent OS - FREE Course!", and it is the video at the top of this page.

If you later choose Hermes as your agent, my best Hermes Agent setup post shows the setup I use.

Beginner Mistakes That Slow You Down

I see the same mistakes again and again.

  • Beginners often start with a Python course when they have never coded.
  • Many people sign up for five courses and finish none of them.
  • Some people try to build five agents in the first week.
  • Some people pay for the most expensive model before they have a working job for it.
  • A lot of beginners skip the jargon and then feel lost in lesson two.
  • Many beginners never ask a question, even when a community is right there.
  • Some people give an agent access to everything on day one.
  • Many beginners trust the output without checking it.

Every one of these has the same fix, which is to make the first week smaller.

It has a beginner-to-expert roadmap, four coaching calls a week and 3,400+ members, and my free AI Money Lab is the best free start.

Do I need to know how to code to learn AI agents?

You do not need to code for the first six courses on this list.

The Microsoft GitHub course and the Hugging Face course both expect Python, so I would leave them until later.

How long does it take a beginner to build a first AI agent?

It depends on the course and on the hours you put in, so I do not promise a number.

Zapier's own page says you can go from zero to a first Zap in under 20 minutes, which is a workflow and a good first win.

What is the difference between an AI agent and a chatbot?

A chatbot answers your question and then stops.

An agent is given a goal and keeps working through the steps, using tools, skills and memory.

Are there free AI agent courses for beginners?

Yes, and AI Money Lab, Zapier Academy, Claude 101 and the Hugging Face course were all shown as free on 13 October 2026.

Microsoft's AI Agents for Beginners is also free to read on GitHub.

What should my first AI agent do?

Your first agent should do one small, boring job that you already do by hand.

Summarising new files or drafting a daily update are good first jobs, because you can check the result quickly.
